Connect an AI agent
Ask your own AI assistant — Claude, ChatGPT, Cursor, VS Code, or anything else that supports the Model Context Protocol (MCP) — about your finances, using the figures you keep here. Add this as a custom connector or MCP server:

What it can and can't do
- It can only read. Nothing it does can change a balance, an account or a setting.
- It sees one household: the one you're in when you approve it.
- Its access key expires every 60 minutes and renews itself while you use it. Leave it unused for 30 days and you'll be asked to approve it again.
- Disconnect it from Household settings and it loses access immediately.
- Once it has your figures, what happens to them is up to that app and the AI company behind it — check their privacy terms.
What it can look at
- Financial snapshot
get_financial_snapshot - A plain-language briefing on the household's whole position -- net worth and its history, every account, annual results, budget, goals, milestones, protection. Pass the user's question to also include the retirement plan section (when it is about retirement). Long: prefer the specific tools for a single figure.
- Net worth summary
get_net_worth_summary - Headline figures for the latest month on file: total (asset-backed) net worth, cash-based net worth (excluding home, vehicles and other assets you'd have to sell), investable assets, total assets and debts, and the change since the previous month on file, over about a year (the reading nearest twelve months back; `months` says how far), and since records began. Also lists accounts whose balance hasn't been updated recently.
- List accounts
list_accounts - Every account with its type, institution, owner (you / another member / joint), whether it is a debt, whether it counts toward cash-based net worth, and its latest balance and the month of that balance. Hidden (closed) accounts are left out unless include_hidden is true.
- Account balance history
get_account_history - The balances recorded for one account, oldest first, optionally limited to a range of months. Only months with an entered balance appear; get the account id from list_accounts.
- Net worth history
get_net_worth_history - Month-by-month net worth, oldest first: total, cash-based, investable, and a subtotal for each goal basis (retirement, taxable, liquid cash, HSA, 529, custodial). Each account's last balance carries forward into months it wasn't updated. Optionally limited to a range of months.
- Biggest balance changes
get_balance_changes - Which accounts moved net worth the most, over the latest month or the trailing ~12 months: each account's change, from and to, largest first, plus the rest summed.
- Recorded life events
list_events - Events the household has noted against particular months ("Bought house", "Changed jobs"), which explain jumps in the net worth history.
- Annual summary
get_annual_summary - One row per year, newest first: year-end net worth (total, cash-based, investable), the change over the year, gross salary, savings rate (change in net worth / gross salary), investable growth %, and net worth as a multiple of salary. Years follow the household's fiscal year end; in_progress marks the current, unfinished year.
- Salary history
get_salary_history - Gross pay by year, oldest first, per earner and in total, with the change from the previous entered year and the total restated in today's dollars.
- Goals and progress
list_goals - Each savings goal with its target, date and basis, today's progress, the monthly savings needed to reach it at the goal's assumed return, the recent savings pace, and whether that pace is on track.
- Monthly budget
get_budget - The household's planned monthly budget: income sources (gross and take-home), every expense, investing and saving line converted to a monthly figure, section totals, savings rate against gross, the household's savings target and how far off it is, and what's left of take-home pay.
- Retirement scenarios
get_retirement_scenarios - Each retirement scenario the household has set up, projected from today's balances: retirement year, the year and age savings reach 25x spending (FIRE), whether and when the money runs out, the bridge to penalty-free withdrawals, and pre-Medicare healthcare costs. Set include_success_probability for a Monte Carlo success rate (slower).
- Insurance and emergency fund
get_protection_coverage - Coverage targets the app computes -- emergency fund, life, disability, umbrella -- each with the target, how it was worked out, what the household has in force, and the gap.
